teithiwr
Shot over the span of a single day, between dawn and dusk, teithiwr [Welsh for βtravellerβ] delves dreamily into the fluvial world Afon Teifi, one of Walesβs longest rivers, to reflect the mystery and fragility of our waterways.
Riverwise: Meditations on Afon Teifi,
Originally conceived as a visual counterpart to Riverwise: Meditations on Afon Teifi,a new Parthian Book by Jack Smylie Wild, teithiwr now stands as a work in its own right, immersing viewers in the rugged countryside of this little-known river. Weaving the visual splendour of a late-summer water-scape together with an original score by composer Peter Stacey, visceral layers of sight and sound conjoin with the aesthetic, ecological and philosophical currents of Jackβs mesmerising reading of afon, a new poem which distils years of riparian wanderings into just a handful of stanzas. This film β sculpted from the raw material of west Wales by director Tee Byford and cinematographer Luke Ogden β conjures in its diurnal course a hypnotic meditation on the relationship between person and place, spirit and space.
